This beautiful dresser is based on a chest designed by Harvey Ellis while working for Gustav Stickley circa 1902. This elegant and simple design has withstood the test of time.

Building this dresser for my son was truly a labor of love. I had wanted to build a pair of them for my kids for years and the free time given to me by the pandemic was finally my chance.

The dresser is made of solid green ash from Pennsylvania with yellow birch drawer sides, and internal framing made of poplar. The drawers are joined with dovetails and slide beautifully on all-wooden guides. The wood for the project was meticulously chosen for contrast on the side panels and continuity on the front. It is finished with a coat of boiled linseed oil, 2 coats of shellac, and two final coats of lacquer.
